Long time Tok School aide becomes the new preschool teacher

There is a new Pre-K teacher this year at Tok School. Who is this teacher you may ask?

Our school has had many different teachers in the past. Last year at Tok School, Cynthia Neumann was the Pre-K teacher and this year, it is Shyanne Mccullough. Her first day as a teacher was September 9, 2024. She has worked here for a few years as a supportive aide, but she has never been an actual teacher who teaches a class. This year, she decided to try something new and become the Pre-K teacher of about 10 kids.

Her duties for her preschool class are to teach them new things and make sure they are safe and as happy as can be. She also is required to drive them safely in a bus to Head Start at noon every school day - except for Fridays because they do not have school. Driving her students makes her feel “very manly” and as if she is “the queen of the road.”

What else do we know about the new Pre-K teacher? Shyanne is the mother of a second-grade student, Krixis, and a sister to one of the cooks at Tok School, Killian Brinkman. She very much loves her job and is very excited for her future as a Pre-K teacher. She is mainly focused on her student's education and happiness. Shyanne was asked what her favorite part about her job was, and she said ¨seeing all of their smiley faces and being able to teach them new things is my favorite.” Shyanne intends to be the Pre-K teacher for quite a while, and we hope she is, too!
