Small wrestling squad had good time at Anchorage tornanment

The Tok High School wrestling team went to the Mountain City tournament in Anchorage. However, only three wrestlers went because most had strep throat or couldn't go. The wrestlers left on October 31st and came back on November 2nd. The wrestlers who went missed out on all of the fun Halloween activities. There were 53 teams at the tournament in Anchorage. None of the wrestlers who went placed, but I'm sure they tried their best out there on the mat.

I interviewed a couple of the wrestlers that went to the tournament in Anchorage and this was their response.

Sophomore Owen Gross said, “The trip was fun. We had fun. Yeah, the ride there was peaceful. I did not win any matches. The food was good. We didn't eat anything from the school; we just bought our food, and that was okay. I am excited about this weekend because we are going up north. Gabe and I lost all. David won 2 and lost 2. But I think we did good.”

Sophomore David McDermott said, “The trip was fun;p we wrestled and I won 2 and lost 2. Owen lost all of them.  Yeah, the trip was way more peaceful and had more room. The food there was good. When we first got there we had Subway. I didn't get any scrapes or bruises. Yes, I'm so excited to go to Barrow and I've never been to Barrow. I met a friend named Micah. The trip overall was really fun; we got there supper early and got to sleep in.”

It sounds like they had a really peaceful trip with just three of them. Their upcoming trip is to the Bob Harcharek tournament in Barrow. If you want to know what happened on their trip to Barrow this weekend, keep checking in on the daily news of Tok School.
