Tok's Wrestling season has officially started

Tok’s wrestling season has just started. The first practice was on Wednesday, October 2. Wrestling is a sport where two people compete with each other. The last few years the season hasn’t gone as well as planned, but this year the wrestlers are deciding to take a stand and try hard. Coach Hamner will give them lots of conditioning and show them lots of techniques to prepare them. No doubt by Hamner being their coach they will be ready before their first tournament which is on the 18th of October.

The first tournament, Hutch Meltdown, is on October 18th and will be in Fairbanks. Following up with the two next on the 25 to 26 of October, at Valdez, and the next one from the first to the 2nd of November in Anchorage. After that, there will be 5 other tournaments in various places around Alaska. (If anyone is curious about where and when another article explaining all of the details of the tournaments was posted on thewolverineinside.com and can be found by looking up wrestling in the search bar.) Overall, everyone hopes the season will go well and is excited to watch the wrestling tournaments.

The wrestlers have their own opinions on the season, too. I asked them if they were excited for the season, and Waylon said, “Yeah, I feel like this year is going to be really good,” and the rest of the team had their own thoughts. Next, they were asked what they were most excited about; Trey answered, saying “slamming people,” Waylon said, “traveling,” Kalvin said “winning,” and Ben said “giving people neck pains.” Then, when asked what they were least excited about, Trey said, “Getting put in a cradle by John Aderson,” and Ben surprisingly explained how going to Subway was his least favorite thing about going on the trips.

Next, the wrestlers were asked how long they had been wrestling for. Most of the answers were from three to four years, though some had only been wrestling for one to two years. The team consists of 12 wrestlers: John, David, Kalvin, Owen, Trey, Creede, Ben, Dawson, Waylon, Teagan, Dewayne, and Gabe. Throughout the season they will go to seven to eight tournaments all in different places of Alaska. We all wish them good luck and hope their season goes well.
